Just a little writing hiatus – back Nov. 19/07
Lately I’ve been noticing that my blog postings are lacking my normal vigour. Definitely represents the harried feelings I’ve had lately. Lots on my plate right now!
I miss my regular way of writing, with all the excitement and enthusiasm bubbling up from me onto the screen, so I can just imagine [...]
Literally comparing side by side a music CD and vinyl record
Thanks to Robert for this fun little posting. What a vivid demonstration of how far we’ve come in storage devices, huh?

I accidentally stumbled upon a list of books that were reviewed for the Journal of Web Librarianship (vol. 2, issue 1, Spring 2008) while at Amazon.ca. What a great idea! While it may not have the review there, I like to know what’s being reviewed and then I could interlibrary loan those reviews [...]

I’ve come to the realization that I’m a total sucker for the ploy online booksellers have for free shipping. Why do I refuse to pay for shipping? It probably would only cost a couple dollars. So, why do I insist on getting another book and pay something like $30 more?
I [...]
Save the Archives Coalition has been formed to stop the closing of the United Church of Canada / Victoria University Archives
While I am not involved in this action, I support it by signing the petition and promoting it here, on my blog. I hope that they find a workable solution that keeps the archives open and accessible for all.

Is it possible to compare the hoarding habits of craftswomen to book buyers?
Last night, I finished reading an engaging article about quilters who hoard their fabric “stash” and it got me wondering if the study could be reproduced but instead of quilters, I would study book buyers.
The article that inspired it all…
Stalp, Marybeth C. (2006). Hiding the (Fabric) Stash: Collecting, Hoarding, and Hiding Strategies [...]
Please critique my DACUM chart for my fictious course…
What do you think? This is my DACUM chart for a fictitious 30 hour course where local graduate students from the area come to learn how to library research at their home institution. This is one component that’s a requirement for my Instructor Diploma course 1301… more components to follow as they’re finished… [...]

This weekend I’m on course, taking ID1301 towards my Instructor Diploma from Vancouver Community College. I’m writing this on my lunch break.
I started this diploma 6 years ago, but then they stopped offering the courses in Whitehorse. I tried the online version of this specific course and it was awful. [...]
My new 2-page handout “How to write mass emails people actually write”
People tell me that I send out really good mass emails at work and asked me how I do it. This is for them…

I think library associations or organizations should look into blog hosting services
For example, Brad just signed up with NiCHE (Network in Canadian History & Environment) http://niche.uwo.ca and they automatically gave him his own blog. Didn’t seem too hard, so why don’t others get into that kind of forum? After all, a lot of associations and organizations were founded on the principle of creating [...]
