Book Review “Faculty-Librarian Relationships”
Jenkins, Paul O. (2005). Faculty-Librarian relationships Oxford, UK: Chandos Publishing.
I’ve been reading this book in little bits here and there and find it a good all-around book for the academic librarian. I appreciate how the author explains in his introduction that he too struggles with the “librarian as faculty, but [...]
Icebreakers are starting to grow on me
In the past few months, I’ve co-facilitated two courses for the local (i.e. territorial) union and these two day courses require an icebreaker at the beginning. Historically, as a student, I often found icebreakers lame… but now that I’m on the other end I realize that it’s not so much about icebreakers being lame [...]

It feels weird not to be in the Yukon River Quest this year. But also nice since I know just how incredibly hard it is!
Good luck to all the racers!!!
Okay, now for a walk down memory lane…
Watch for me in this first video. At 0:43 you can see our boat starting. [...]
Some local news about what’s happening in Whitehorse
For those of you who like to hear what’s happening locally at this remote part of the world…
The 8th ISF Junior Men’s World Fast Pitch Championships are happening in Whitehorse right now. The fields are at the bottom of the hill so I bike by them on my way to and from work. [...]
Another reason not to like the new Cdn copyright bill
Say what?! It’ll now be illegal for me to email or receive by email interlibrary loaned articles???
That’ll grind our interlibrary loan system to a halt not to mention the effect it’ll have on services to community campuses. Not sure what to think or do.
Canadian Library Association Disappointed with New Copyright Legislation
This new law [...]
Back from KCIBR
Had a good race on Saturday. I remember now why I normally do the long, flat legs ’cause I’m really terrible on the hills. About halfway into doing Leg 1 (the most uphill of all the legs and the shortest) I realized my folly. Oh well. Lesson learned. At least [...]

Tim will be pleased to hear that I’m off to Haines Junction for the Kluane Chilkat International Bike Relay this weekend. He caught me last year when I said something about how I do the bike race every year… but then didn’t do it and did the Mayo Midnight Marathon instead. In my [...]

This is an okay read. Not as good as I was hoping to find. Maybe it was written by committee, which would explain why it reads with such a vanilla tone, but it’s information is good albeit presented in a boring fashion.
Why they felt the need to have an entire first [...]
Concordia’s Librarians’ presentation on a student video contest for information literacy
How cool is this? Instead of making a PowerPoint, Olivier, Cameron, and Patrick made a newsletter for their presentation!
I’m certainly going to remember this for myself for the future…
These are the guys who are part of the organizing committee for next year’s WILU, taking place at Concordia University. If they’re this [...]
My two page handout on Teaching online in the Adobe Connect environment
Would you like to know what I’ve learned during my experiences moving my library instruction online, specifically into the Adobe Connect environment? Well, I made a two page handout for a session I did for local staff and this is the final version.
The first section lists the absolutely essential tasks that one [...]
