A different kind of carolling

Since this is a day many people are carolling or listening to carols, I thought you might enjoy a totally different kind.

How differently would the work look if we didn’t have any distance education?

I just found out that McGill University doesn’t recognize degrees studied by distance education, even undergraduate degrees from highly reputable Canadian institutions.
Yes, I was shocked. After all, look how many years, how much effort, and money I’ve invested in myself through both work and my Master of Education specializing in Information Technology? [...]

Update on PhD application process

Bad News:
I didn’t get into the University of Alberta.
Good News:
McGill University is launching a brand-new PhD in LIS Fall 2009, which I’m applying to and I’m quite excited about the program (and living in Montreal). In addition, I’m still applying to the University of Toronto and The University of Western Ontario. So, I [...]

Forgive my moment of bragging

Using the University of Calgary Library’s excellent WISPR program, I developed a website and variety of handouts that I use to structure all of my library instruction. I do wonder, however, who cleaned up after all those people left… bet it wasn’t the students…

Flying business class, oh what a treat!

I’m going home in early March, during Reading Week, to go wedding dress shopping with my family and I’m using Aeroplan points. Unfortunately, it’s so late in the year to be booking a flight with points that I had to use up more than usual and go business class in 3 out of the [...]

Do you think libraries will become even more popular during an economic depression?

I’ve been too busy to scan through other librarian blogs lately, but I suspect they’re all saying the same thing — if the economic depression that’s being predicted comes true, libraries (particularly public ones) will only become more popular than they are right now.
What do you think? Will that prophecy come true?
