Don’t just borrow from the public library, use the Hold Request
Let’s talk about the local public library in your community. There’s no place in your community that is going to do a better job at saving you money. If you’re reading this blog, I think you’re probably already aware of all the great books, audiobooks, DVDs, magazines, etc. you can get for free [...]

You may have noticed I’ve started posting a few things about home economics, mainly living frugally. It seems to be on everyone’s lips lately and has been something I had been thinking about long before a certain global financial incident happened. It’s just how I’m trying to live my life.
Just to clear up [...]
My laptop is down for the count
My laptop has suddenly started having problems and I’ve had a techie friend look it over. Looks like I damaged the motherboard, possibly when I accidentally dropped it a couple months ago. It’s been getting steadily worse the last few months and now it’s almost barely on for long before the scary blue [...]

Some financial myths I’ve stopped believing in
There are some crazy myths that have evolved in our society that I even believed in at one point or another in my life. But as I’ve educated myself on how to lead a more afford, sustainable, and realistic lifestyle. I’ve come to identify what BS I’ve been sold by our mainstream culture.

Every library and her cataloguers need to decide what’s more important: The purity of the cataloguing or the compability of the controlled vocabulary to meet the needs of the library user.
It’s a tough one and I don’t feel that I can tell anyone what’s the best choice for their library. I don’t think [...]

A personal pet peeve of mine are those cataloguers who are still thinking like we’re using the Card Catalogue system. It’s all online people, you don’t have to worry about saving space! Put as much information in as you can!
There’s nowhere that I can see this evidenced more than in the 260 field, [...]
